2010 "Imagine" Gala - Performers

Helen Siemens - Harpist

pic-helen1.jpg Through-out the ages, harp music has delighted and inspired people all over the world. Helen Siemens continues this tradition through her harp and other string instruments. Dedicated to the memory of her parents, her collection of classics speaks to that part of us that yearns to fulfill our dreams. Raised in South America in a loving and musical family, Helen learned guitar and mandolin from her father Aaron Froese, who was a brilliant violinist. Thanks to her mother, Susanna Froese, Helen received a strong sense of believing in herself, a direct reflection of her mother's devotion to her. Helen wishes to thank her listeners for their support as well as those whose help and encouragement made her recordings a success. Helen lives her belief: It is never too late to follow your dreams. With faith, commitment and gratitude, anything is possible.

John Dawson - Master of Ceremonies

john_dawson.jpgJohn Dawson is no stranger to the Gallery 7 Theatre stage, and we are thrilled to have him bring his unique mc abilities to this year's Gala. John's play with Gallery 7 was Twelve Angry Jurors, where we spent most of his time behind a door, unseen by the audience. Since that time, his acting career has exploded, performing in numerous other G7 shows such as God's Man in Texas, Lost in Yonkers, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Family Man and most recently, The Diary of Anne Frank. John received an award for his role in God's Man in Texas at Theatre BC's Fraser Valley Zone Festival. He has also appeared in numerous productions at other community theatre groups.

This is a Play

A hilarious one-act play by Canadian Playwright, Daniel McIvor

A play, about a play, about a play, this is a post-modern romp through the interior lives of actors performing in a bad play.

This year, we thought we'd invite you in to the mind of the actor as we present this hilarious, toungue-in-cheek play within a play within a play by Canadian playwright, Daniel McIvor.

A small troupe of actors, consisting of an older diva who's career has passed it's prime, a young leading lady with nothing but ambition and drive, and an actor whose brain seems disconnected with reality, attempt to perform in a new play. What we end up with is a hilarious exploration of the actual thoughts of the performers as they stumble through this rather vague and bizarre new play.

A Disclaimer: This play is super funny. It puts the phsyche of the actor front and centre. It is meant to be toungue-in-cheek, a funny concoction meant to make you laugh. It is not representative of what actually goes on in the development of a Gallery 7 Theatre production; we like to think we actually produce GOOD plays...
